This course was designed to cover all aspects of the job of the librarian, who wears many hats!
- Staff Development Plan- one important aspect of working in the library is sharing knowledge. For this staff development plan, I wrote a plan that focuses on using apps for video creation. With a need to strengthen our iPad skills, this plan is designed with my staff in mind.
- ALA/AASL Standards: 1, 3, 4
- Board policy analysis- one assignment was an analysis (paper) related to board policies in my school district. Each policy that related to the library was summarized, analyzed, and personal notes given. Included are the paper and a PowerPoint related to a book challenge, which was shared at the on-campus weekend to demonstrate what my district did in the case of a challenge.
- ALA/AASL Standards: 1, 2, 3, 4
- Library goals- setting goals is an important aspect of the library. This document includes 3 substantial goals for the year, 3 objectives for meeting each goal, and 2-3 actions needed to complete the goal.
- ALA/AASL Standards: 2, 3, 4
- This course really met many of the competencies including understanding the role of the library, related ethical practices, policies and procedures and legislation requirements, creating a conducive facility design, and creating a tech plan for a specific audience. One area for development is to continually understand the culture of my school (not just a snapshot during this course), and to continually reflect on my practices as a librarian.
