Advanced Research Methodology for Nursing, Jeju University College of Nursing Fall 2017

Taught four 1st-year PhD students through a workshop formatted lecture (a total of 12 hours). The specific contents include Originality, Literature Search, Quality Appraisal, Ten simple rules for structuring papers, Terrific Titles, Strategies to increase citations, Correlation study, and Instrument Development study. Contributed to the teaching as an independent lecturer.

Applied Statistical Analysis I, University of Florida College of Nursing Spring 2014

Worked as a Teaching Assistant of Dr. Ann L. Horgas, PhD, RN, FAAN in Applied Statistical Analysis I delivered in a Web-based format to DNP and MSN students (enrollment: 32 students). Graded eight SPSS computer assignments every week and two research critiques assignments. Answered students’ questions on each assignment and on online lectures via email and discussion board in the online learning system. The topical outlines included Bivariate Description (cross-tabulation & correlation), Risk Indices (Odds ratios and Relative Risk), a T-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Post-hoc analysis, Chi-square and nonparametric tests, Multiple Regression, Logistic Regression, Factor Analysis and Internal Consistency Reliability, and Multilevel Modeling.

Theory and Research for Nursing, University of Florida College of Nursing Fall 2014

Worked as a Teaching Assistant of Dr. Christa Cook, PhD, MSN, RN, APHN-BC in Theory and Research for Nursing delivered in a Web-based format to BSN to DNP, MSN and BSN-Accelerated Track students (enrollment: 32 students). Graded the students’ Voice Threads (i.e., briefly recorded answers to questions from the on-line lecture, each week for thirteen weeks), their three-page theory paper and six students’ additional assignments on plagiarism prevention. Answered students’ questions on each assignment and on online lectures via email. The topical outlines included 1) analyzing the links among theory, research, and practice in nursing and the elements of conceptual models and theoretical frameworks, 2) critiquing published research to identify appropriate use of the steps of the research process, 3) comparing and contrasting quantitative and qualitative research designs/ approaches, and 4) describing ethical and scientific integrity issues related to research. As for the theory paper, emphasis was on the logical relationship among theory, research and practice.
