Classrooms in West Africa all look the same, the same tight benches, the same gaping windows, the same tin roofs, the same blackboard. Why? Let’s take a cue from Burkinabe architect Diébédo Francis Kéré’s transformation of the traditional school building to think about how teachers might redesign classes in West Africa to improve learning. Can we improve the architecture of teaching the same way Kéré improves the building’s design?
