Post date: Apr 15, 2018 8:40:13 PM
On April 13, 2018, the second Cote d’Ivoire ELT Exchange seminar took place at IPNETP on the topic Oral Skills – Listening and Speaking in the presence of Mr. Berté Zakaria, the General Manager of IPNETP.
The objective of the seminar was to prepare Ivorian Teachers to create more listening and speaking materials for their learners. Oral skills are among the least taught English skills in Cote d’Ivoire. The seminar gave the teachers more tools and confidence to create their own listening and speaking materials.
The seminar started with the presentation by Riah Werner, English Language Fellow at IPNETP on Listening to English as an International Language. Participants learnt about English as a lingua franca (ELF) and how to create and teach Listening using a PDP approach.
8 Easy Ways to Improve English Speaking Skills”.
The second part of the seminar was brilliantly presented by Lia Hollander, TESOL and TOEFL iBT® Certified American English Teacher, currently at the US Embassy Abidjan. Her presentation was titled “8 Easy Ways to Improve English Speaking Skills”. Participants learned to hone their knowledge on the pronunciation of sounds like ED, S and TH.
On behalf of Mr. Berté Zakaria, General Manager of IPNETP and Mrs. Sita Kanga, Head of the ESP Center, The Team of Cote d’Ivoire ELT Exchange, would like to congratulate all the teachers who took part in the seminar and extend their thank you and gratitude to Lia Hollander for her outstanding contribution.
