Student Mail Folders
CHS students have mail folders in the CHS Department, room 36-070, next to the Student Affairs Officer’s office. Flyers and mail arriving at the CHS office will be placed in your folder. You should check your mail folder regularly. Do NOT have personal mail sent to the department. Also, check the Department website and the bulletin boards outside the Department office for information on courses, seminars, workshops, fellowships and scholarships, and job bulletins.
Lockers
Lockers within FSPH (on A-level and 2nd through 7th floors) are available to all Public Health students. Locker assignments are handled by the FSPH Student Affairs Office in 16-059 CHS, on a first-come, first-served basis. Information on how to apply for a locker will be sent at a later date.
Library and Study Areas
The Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library serves primarily the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health, Schools of Dentistry, and Nursing; the Life Sciences divisions of the College of Letters and Sciences; related institutes in biomedicine; and the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The library is located in Room 12-077 CHS.
The Biomedical Library also has several rows of computers on the main floor, as well as quiet study areas and cubicles to the back left (near the current journal publications). The Biomed librarians are also a great resource for students needing help in finding information or resources on research topics.
Other campus libraries include:
Young Research Library (for graduate students)
Powell Library (mostly undergraduate students, but a beautiful library to study in)
Law Library (restrictions to non-Law school students during final exam periods)
More information about the new FSPH Graduate Student Study Lounge will be available closer to the Fall quarter.
Computer Labs
SPH’s main computer lab, the Technology and Learning Center (TLC), is located on the 2nd floor of the Louise Darling Biomedical Library (Biomed). To get to the TLC use the stairs immediately to your right after entering the Biomedical Library. Students must create FREE accounts in order to use the lab’s computers. Printing is available, but at a per page fee.
The Biomed offers PC/Mac laptop loans to students for use during the day.
There are also several computers in the FSPH Graduate Student Study Lounge.
