FSPH Slack Workspace
The FSPH Slack Workspace includes a number of channels - one for job, internship, and postdoc opportunities, another for on campus jobs as well as channels for school events and workshops. You will automatically be added to these slack channels at the beginning of fall quarter.
FSPH offers individual career counseling, professional development workshops, networking events, and career fairs. It is highly recommended to take advantage of Career Services at FSPH.
UCLA Career Center
The UCLA Career Center offers services, workshops, hosts career fairs, and provides resources to help students and UCLA alumni. As a UCLA student, from the first day you arrive, they can introduce you to an array of career possibilities and help you explore the link between your major and career choices. Once an alumnus, they can assist you in transitioning from your current occupation to your next job anywhere in the United States.
What do I call myself?
Students often wonder how to list their title when they update their professional profile or order new business cards. Please note that Student and Candidate are not interchangeable. While in some cases the proper title is of little relevance, it is useful to use the correct title as it will convey your proper stage in the program.
Masters:
You are a Masters Student up until the very end of your program. You are only a Masters Candidate when you advance to candidacy for your degree. Advancement to candidacy occurs only during the quarter in which you anticipate to graduate.
Doctoral:
You are a Doctoral Student until you advance to candidacy by successfully defending your dissertation proposal. When you pass your proposal defense, you are then a Doctoral Candidate.
