The blue petition is a form submitted to explain a student’s request to be exempted from any rule or regulation of a student's respective program. It is the only way to obtain formal approval from the department, the school, the Registrar, or whoever has authority to grant a particular request. The blue petition can be accessed by clicking here or from the CHS Student Affairs Officer and is reviewed by the student's advisor and Department Chair/Vice Chair. Petitions should be filed as soon as possible.
Common reasons to submit a blue petition:
Take more than 18 units in a specific quarter
Have an upper division undergraduate or graduate level course outside of FSPH count towards the masters degree elective requirements
Waive a prerequisite course for the doctoral program
Work over 50%-time (more than 20 hours per week)
