Dear Charles,
David and I want to thank you again for allowing us to adopt Tally (formerly Linda).  As soon as I saw her picture in the posting on Petfinders, I knew that I wanted to adopt her!  She is very sweet and loving, and I love her high spirit!  The trip from Charlotte to Brooklyn to pick her up was long, but she is worth every mile and every minute.  She is a wonderful addition to our family, and we love her dearly. Thanks again for choosing us to be Tally's people.
Hi Charles,
I just wanted you to know that I was just perfect on that LONG trip to my new home in Charlotte. I am now officially a "Carolina Girl.".  I slept like a champ last night snuggled up to my new mom.   She took me for a walk this morning so that I could see my new neighborhood.  I met some really nice people who think I am just precious!  (And why not???)
I had a quiet day.  Got a little lonesome for Mom when she went out to buy my fresh organic food, but Dad loved on me a lot, so I was pretty happy with that. Later this afternoon Mom brushed my hair really well and got out all those little knotties that I had.  You will be proud to know that I was so easy to get along with while she did this. It actually felt pretty good, truth be told.  Then, Mom gave me a bath in the kitchen sink, of all places. What does she think I am--a zucchini??  I was not really thrilled with this process, but I behaved.  After the bath, Mom brought out the blow dryer and combs and brushes. I just lay back (literally) and enjoyed the warm air and all the attention.  After all this grooming, Mom just had to take me out to introduce me to a couple neighbors. I will never get tired of hearing people say how cute I am!  Then, one more walk down Mom's street. I am going to be very happy here. Mom and Dad have lots of friends who are really happy that I am here with them.
I'll have one more potty trip outside after while, then it will be time for bed. Thanks, Charles, for finding my new mom and dad. They love me and I love them!

Thanks so much for your help! I was so afraid of doing the wrong thing for Russell and you made me feel confident that with your help he will be on the right track. If I can return the favor in any way let me know ... Your responsiveness was beyond appreciated.

Una Elias

Hi Charles,

I can't wait to see you tomorrow! The kids watched, The Witness, Meat your Meet, and Harlow Wire Cloth Monkey Experiment today.  They were feeling both saddened and I think a bit helpless about the abuse of animals and the suffering that humans cause them. I told them that the rest of the week was going to be about how they can make a difference and HELP! You will be the catalyst for this for them.  If there is anything you need let me know.  How long do you think you will speak for so that we can plan around you? Again you have from 10-12 if you'd like but not sure you want all that time.

Okay thank you thank you thank you Charles.

p.s. I am totally in love. Sev in my main man in life now. He barked for the first time two days ago, and then again yesterday at a dog about five times his size. :)

You have no idea the impact you had on those kids yesterday they were so excited. Odun was the talk of the SCHOOL! Thank you.

Dear Charles,

Thank you so very much for a fun and meaningful day for Theodore and all the kids. Please also extend my thanks to Priscilla and your whole staff and tiny shoes too, for putting up with all those walks around the block.

I have already heard back from one mom that she plans to return to walk dogs and another that she plans to adopt a kitten... hope so! and I wouldn't be surprised if my brother ends up adopting a pit bull from you-- he really liked that brindle that was going out for a walk as we were leaving..

We'll see you around, my little family will definitely come by to walk dogs again.

Keep up the good work.

Hey Charles,

You are one of my favorites and I have really enjoyed working with so much with you - now the adoption events won't nearly be as fun.  I would love to stay in touch and if you need any help - I would be more than happy to - especially when it comes to marketing, promotion and web stuff. And I can't do it I might be able to get some volunteers who could.

Best of luck and definitely keep me posted - I think it is awesome you are opening a shelter.

Hi Charles,

Thanks so much for volunteering with your dogs at Lutheran Medical Center!  Bonnie Olsen, who is in charge of volunteers, asked that you please contact her to set up an interview.  Her information is below.

Thanks so much!!!

You can also call me if you have any questions.

Hi Charles!

I am soooo impressed w the photos and what you do. Your organization to help rape victims and those who suffer from PTSD. I can't wait for my students to hear about the impact dogs and animals can have on the lives of youth, the military, and you! Archon and the peach tree is a beautiful story I have no doubt that he is looking over you and supporting you and protecting you on your new journey.  Archon's influence has seemed to make you powerful in whatever you commit to doing.

Hey Charles,

You have played a vital role in providing our youth with a place to work over the summer especially where they can work in a field of their passion.  Please let me know how your new animal rescue shelter is coming along, and I look forward to keeping in touch.  Thanks again!

You left quite the legacy

Wed, Feb 8, 2012                                                             Hey Charles!!!!!!!!
The kids are still talking about you at school. We have another week in March where we do the same type of curriculum.
Would you be willing/interested to come in again and speak/work with a new group of students?
I have a feeling our group is going to be one of the most coveted as you left quite the legacy.
Sev and I are splendid. He is my most favorite guy in the whole wide world.
Best thing I ever did for myself.

Thank you Charles! Dr. Marcela Salas, Veterinarian, Brooklyn, NY

Charles has been a part of the
Brooklyn animal community for many years. Before I knew him well I respected him for the way he moved with his 10 dogs, across the lawns of Prospect Park during the off leash hours, all 10 of the mastiffs were off leash and completely obedient to his every command.  Charles’ mastiffs were the best behaved dogs out there! But it wasn't until he helped me with my Rottweiler whom I had rescued that I understood his expertise and the skill set that he provided.

My skittish and fearful Rottie made me nervous and I did not feel capable of dealing with his unpredictability. But Charles worked intensely with my Rottie Pablo, while we went out on walks on the streets, we would go to dog parks, and Charles even took him into his house for intensive weekends where my dog became part of the pack.

The dog I have now is trusting and obedient. I have no fear about him anymore, and I am confident that he is a good dog for me and my 9 month old daughter. Had it not been for Charles,  I would have a much different situation on my hands.

I am also a veterinarian, and I proudly refer dogs with behavioral issues to charles. I believe now that every dog could be the dog you need them to be, with guidance, time, and respect.

Thank you Charles!

Incredible line up of Broadway Performers for Broadway Unleashed

posted Oct 14, 2009, 11:50 PM by Charles Henderson   [ updated Apr 16, 2012, 11:15 PM ]

Hi, I hope all is well in your world.  I can't believe the Broadway Unleashed is one week away, Monday 17th.  I'm hoping you got my e mail about the event. It's looking like it's going to be a fun evening. I'm just sending out a reminder about it. Hope to see you there. If you can't make it, please pass this along to someone that might be interested. You need to buy your tickets in advance.

I'm so grateful and excited to have an incredible line up of Broadway Performers for the event. They are giving their time and talent for a heartfelt cause. Tony Award Winner Beth Leavel and Gina Ferrall my fellow cohorts in Mamma Mia!will be performing.Tony nominees Dee Hoty, Howard McGillin, Malcolm Gets, Olga Merediz many other Broadway Veterans like Robert Creighton, Darius De Haas, Dale Hensley,Norm Lewis, Rosemary Loar,  Everette Bradley, singer and percussionist, with Bon Jovi, David Bowie, and Hall and Oates, will be doing a numbers. Bernadette Peters is coming as Guest Speaker and Chita Rivera will be dining with our VIP's. Broadway Musical Director,David Holcenberg will be on piano. I'll be singing, as well.
The animal rescue I am doing this fundraiser for is a small rescue shelter in Brooklyn, but, have as many adoptions in a year as the ASPCA, on a fraction of the budget. They, not only, take in dogs, cats and all types of small animals, but, also, are one of the only shelters in the NY area that take in exotics. They rescue animals from all over, not just the NYC area. They are a "no kill" shelter and treat special medical cases.  Along with helping the animals, they have an outreach program for students with behavioral issues to learn skills by working with the animals. Because it is a 'grass roots" organization, the money goes directly toward care of the animals. Our goal is to raise money for the shelter and, eventually, buy a mobile adoption van which could cost close to $250, 000.00., but will triple the adoptions immediately.

If you are unable to make it, I hope you will consider making  a donation. It is a not-for profit organization and is a tax deductible 501(c)3.

Thanks so much,

With a warm heart,

Judy McLane
