Founder &

Executive Director

My name is Charles Henderson. I have been heavily involved with animal rescue throughout my life and for the past 10 years, I have made a significant impact in the animal rescue world. I have rescued and rehomed almost 8000 dogs and 4000 cats over the past decade and would like to rescue twice that amount over the next 10 years.

I went to college at Columbia University where I studied Psychology, specifically, Neural Science Behavior and played football as a Strong Safety on the defensive side of the football.

I am a trained former military special operations combat search and rescue specialist. I am also a professionally certified personal trainer(ACE/AFAA) as well as a certified professional K9 trainer & handler (CPDT). I train working single, dual and multi-purpose K9s, protection, narcotics and explosive K9s as well as companion, service and therapy dogs. I am a rehabilitator and have rehabilitated over 5000 dogs in the past 10 years. I have 10 dogs and 4 cats.

Currently, I live with an English mastiff/Great Dane mix, a Neapolitan mastiff, a French mastiff(Dogue de Bordeaux), a Bullmastiff, a Belgian Malinois, a Great Dane/Pitbull mix, an Akita, an Alpine Mastiff (St. Bernard), a Giant Schnauzer and a Czek Shepherd. 2 of my dogs are certified therapy dogs with DELTA Society, 2 are executive protection dogs and 1 is in training to be a FEMA-certified urban search and rescue dog.

I am the former Director of Operations of another animal rescue in Brooklyn where, over the past 5 years, I was directly responsible for the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of over 5000 dogs and 2000 cats with less than a 2% return rate.

Additionally, I served as the behaviorist & dog trainer responsible for rehabilitating all the dogs that had behavioral challenges. I have been lauded as the dog whisperer of the east coast, but I prefer to be considered the fixer, as I usually come in after several other dog trainers and fix the problem in short order, most of the time.

It's not about being a great trainer or about my ego. In fact, it's because of my lack of ego that I am able to be so successful.

I love dogs and hate to see them in an unbalanced, unhappy, agitated or anxious state of mind.

Dogs are "happiest" or least stressed out when they are calm, stable and peaceful.

3-4 million dogs and 6-8 million cats are NEEDLESSLY put to sleep every year in the United States.

What a massive waste of life! How can we be so all consuming that we get to the point where is is socially acceptable and the norm to needlessly kill almost 10 million dogs and cats a year in the United States.

This is completely unacceptable. Help me fix this problem. Become a part of the team.
