Umesh is presently working as a Lecturer in State Inter-university Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics (SIUCEB), University of Kerala and also doing his Ph.D in Computational Biology. He is one of the bright and creative persons around, who loves reading, photography, painting, watching movies and hanging out with friends. He is a lover of Mathematics and hails from Vallithode near Kannur. As a post graduate in Mathematics from Kannur University, he has shown his creativeness and his love towards Mathematics by developing two CD-ROMs - TATVA and CHARITHRA - for the Mathematics Department of Payyanur College. He has also written many articles about Mathematics in Malayalam. His love for Mathematics has now turned towards Bioinformatics. So he took an M.Phil. in Bioinformatics from the Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. He has also developed a tool to identify mitochondrial haplogroup. He has worked as a consultant of Sooryakiran Bioinformatics Pvt. Ltd., Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram and as a Web Designer in Adsoft, Bangalore. His dream work, "Kera - Programming Language for Synthetic Biology" is nearing realization. Kera is an object-oriented programming language to create, display, combine and edit biological constructs and convert them into sequence. He also has great interests in popular science talks and writing science articles. He believes that it is the best way to enlighten common people with the essence of science.
