MSc. A Batch [2008 - 2010]

Bioinformatics Programmer, SciGenom Labs Pvt. Ltd., SEZ. Kakkanad, Cochin.

Hi... I am Premkrishnan B.V., first batch M.Sc. Computational Biology (M.Sc. - A Batch) student. I had successfully completed my post-graduation at Centre for Bioinformatics, Kariyavattom Campus, University of Kerala in the year 2011. Now I am working as a Bioinformatics Programmer in SciGenom Labs Pvt. Ltd., SEZ, Kakkanad, Cochin. Selecting this course was a risky job for me at that time because, none of my friends or relatives had heard about the course till then. But I liked the concept behind this course – ‘find solutions to biological problems with the help of information technology’. So I didn’t want to give it up so easily. I have searched for the future possibilities of this particular area over the internet. And I also searched for other institutions where I can learn this course. After searching I found that this area is going play an important role in the upcoming future. So I decided to take my chance. I joined for the course. At the end of the last semester a bioinformatics company, ‘SciGenom’, made a visit to our campus. Our director Achu sir and my senior friend Mr. Sreejith (he also did his M.Phil. from our centre) took personal interest to bring them to our campus. I am thankful to both of them for lighting up my career. Now I am satisfied with my job mainly because, the kind of things I am doing here is exactly what I have dreamed of when I was a PG student. My company is having biotechnology lab facilities also. Now I can study both wet lab and dry lab analysis of DNAs and RNAs. So I am happy. :-)
