MPhil A Batch [2005 - 2006]

Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Calicut

I am Gopakumar G., currently working as Assistant Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering department of National Institute of Technology Calicut. Here at NIT Calicut, I am mainly involved in teaching various Computer science subjects. I am also in-charge of Biocomputing laboratory which is under development. I was one of the students of the first M. Phil Bioinformatics batch at Centre for Bioinformatics @ University of Kerala. CBi is a special genera institute that is beyond the expectations of a student in Kerala/India. The vision, passion, hard work and creativity promoted by CBi form the key factors that make CBi one of the most sought after centres in India nowadays to study Bioinformatics. The freedom that a student experience at CBi will not be anywhere in Kerala probably in India itself.

The lessons I learned at CBi is precious. More than the basics of Bioinformatics, a student may be learning how to organize a seminar, how to help in administrative works, how to love nature and how to mingle with various kinds of persons. Another key advantage that a student can treasure for his/her entire life is the frequent personal interactions with scientists of highest caliber from all over the world including Nobel laureates. Associating with CBi is a life time achievement that any student in India can enjoy and benefit in multiple ways.
