The Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (DCB) is a new generation inter-disciplinary as well as multidisciplinary teaching & research department of University of Kerala, India. The Department offers a two-year innovative MSc (Computational Biology) programme with three specializations. Research is the top priority activity of the Department and the PhD programme focuses on both computational and life science problems. The Department has state of the art scientific infrastructure and a resourceful library with almost 4000 books. DCB maintains a research ambience that motivates MSc students towards PhD. The DCB calendar is a harmonious blend of disciplinary, interdisciplinary and extra-disciplinary activities that prepare scholars to integrate across disciplines and skills (hard and soft), facilitate learning in groups and communities, have substantial management capability and excellent communication skills in addition to subject expertise. MSc Computational Biology aims at imparting theoretical and practical skills for the development and implementation of powerful computational algorithms, for representing, analyzing and simulating life at sub-cellular or molecular level. The programme is appropriate for graduates of Life Science, Computer Science/applications and those with mathematical and technical background.
