Aneesha
Aneesha is a kind of person that you would want to have on your team and your friend. She has a positive attitude about every aspect of life. She is very cool and has a twisted sense of humor. She is from Attingal and now residing at Abu Dhabi. She did her schooling in Al Uthman English medium Higher Secondary School and completed her Bachelors degree in Botany from Govt. Women’s College, Trivandrum and obtained her Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Tamil Nadu. She did M. Phil in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. Her M. Phil Project is on HCV to identify mutational trends in different strains. Her areas of interest include genomic analysis, Phylogenetic studies, protein modelling, mutational studies, Computer aided drug design etc. Her hobbies are reading, listening to music, watching TV and also she loves to travel across the world. Anu
Anu is a simple and jovial person with a pretty smile. Once she sets her target clear & concrete, she gathers her full strength and devotes her whole vigor to hit the mark. She belongs to Kanjirampara in Thiruvananthapuram, and is now settled in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, with her husband. She completed her M.Sc in Biotechnology from Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University, Allahabad and B.Sc Biotechnology from S.D. College, Alappuzha. She also did M.Phil in Bioinformatics, from this centre. As part of M. Phil curriculum she did her research project from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, the premier institute for scientific research in India, under the guidance of Prof. S. Ramakumar who is the Chairman of Bioinformatics Centre of IISc. Before moving to Bangalore, she was working in Kerala State Pollution Control Board as a Scientific Apprentice. Arathi
Arathi is cool as a cucumber, gifted with the ability to wipe out your worry lines & smooth out your wrinkles. She is friendly & has a warm heart. She has an innocent face sugarcoated with a sweet smile. She has acquired her M. Phil in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. As part of the curriculum, she has done a project entitled “Genome Analysis in Musa – Comparison of DNA Sequences from pairs of Homologous and Homoeologous Bacterial Artificial Chromosomes”. Biju V.C.
Biju V.C. comes from Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, the place situated near Western Ghats, bordered by the hills, which is well known for its scenic beauty, fairs and festivals. He completed his Graduation from Christian College, Chengannur in Botany in the year 2002. He also completed his B.Ed Degree from Institute of Teachers Education, Adoor in 2003. He did his Master’s in Genetics and Plant Breeding in the Botany Department of University of Kerala. During the course, he got a rich experience in Tissue culture techniques, and has done a project entitled “Tissue culture studies on Kaempferia rotunda”. He had also acquired an M.Phil Degree in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics in 2008. As part of the M.Phil curriculum he has done an excellent project work on “Quantitative Structure Activity Relations and Molecular Docking studies on 2(Alkylthio)-pyrimidin-4 ones as Lipoprotein Associated Phospholipase A2 inhibitors”, under the guidance of Dr. Narahari Shastry, at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad. His areas of interest include Molecular Docking, QSAR, Virtual screening, Homology modeling etc. Currently he is working as a Guest Lecturer in the Centre for Bioinformatics. Deepa
Deepa; smile, laughter, affection, diligence, hard work – all the above in one – that is Deepa. Hailing from Prasanth Nagar in Thiruvananthapuram, she did her B.Sc and M.Sc in Microbiology. Her M.Phil in Bioinformatics is from this very centre. Currently she is doing her Ph.D in Immunoinformatics under Dr. M. Radhakrishna Pillai & Dr. Oommen V. Oommen at this centre. (Compiled by Achu)

Keerthy, a very sociable, bold and determined person; hails from Kochi, Queen of Arabian Sea. She believes that variety is spice of life which is clearly evident from her academic career. She secured her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram; Master’s in Computer Application from Calicut University & M.Phil in Bioinformatics from CBi, University of Kerala. She is in teaching field with 2 years of online tutoring at Growing Stars InfoTech Pvt Ltd; a year as Computer faculty at Greets Public School, Kochi; and 6 months as lecturer in Bioinformatics at SNGIST, Kochi. Nejitha is a charming, straightforward & hardworking person. She has a strong view of what she is and what she has done and what she could do. She hails from Chandanathoppu in Kollam District. Phil in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. She was an IT Teacher in Govt. Boys HS, Kollam and also has experience as a Computer Programmer in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and as Customer Support Representative in Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Co. Ltd. Rajesh
Rajesh, energetic, friendly and a talkative fellow, hails from Nilackal, a small village near Sabarimala, the world famous pilgrim centre. He took M.Phil degree in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. During his course he has done an excellent project at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, one of the premier R&D institutes in India. He has a Post Graduation in Genetics and Plant breeding from Dept. of Botany, University of Kerala in the year 2004 – 2006. He has taken his Bachelor’s degree in Botany from NSS Hindu College, Mahatma Gandhi University in the year 2001 – 2004. His Pre degree was also from NSS Hindu College during the year 1999 – 2001. He is familiarized with tissue culture techniques and also with several bioinformatics tools. He is interested in drug design especially in Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) studies. His hobbies include riding bikes, playing badminton and football. Sithara is a native of Varkala, a place far-famed for its famous & beautiful beach, and for Sivagiri mutt. Subesh
Subesh is a simple, amicable, bright and hardworking guy, who hails from Vatakara, in Kozhikode District, which is famous, as it is the birth place of Kunjali Marakkar, and for many temples including the Lokanarkavu temple. He secured his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Pondicherry University and Master’s in Computer Science from Calicut University and M.Phil in Bioinformatics from Centre for Bioinformatics. He also wishes to do his Ph.D in Computational Biology. He has served as a Computer Faculty in Govt. Umesh P.
Umesh is one of the bright and creative persons around who loves reading, painting, watching movies and hanging out with friends. He is a lover of Mathematics (just like our Achu Sir) and hails from Vallithode near Kannur. As a post graduate in Mathematics from Kannur University, he has shown his creativeness and his love towards Mathematics by developing two CD-ROMs - TATVA and CHARITHRA - for the Mathematics Department of Payyanur College. He has also written many articles about Mathematics in Malayalam. His love for Mathematics has now turned towards Bioinformatics. So he took an M.Phil in Bioinformatics from this centre. He has also developed a tool to identify mitochondrial haplogroup. He has worked as a consultant of Sooryakiran Technopark, TVM and as a Web Designer in Adsoft, Bangalore. Vidhya
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. It’s true when we speak of Vidhya. Her dazzlingly beautiful smile can put a smile on others face. She’s tall and chubby but she’s as gentle as a lamb. She carries an aura of gracefulness & generosity, making her even more appealing & attractive. She is currently holding a position as a Research Associate at the Centre for Bioinformatics. She has acquired her M.Phil in Bioinformatics from this centre and as part of the M.Phil curriculum she has done a project entitled, "Application of Bioinformatics tool in the analysis and prediction of mutational strategies of Chikungunya virus ". She holds an M.Sc degree in Chemistry from S. N. College, Tvm and a B.Sc degree in Chemistry from All Saint’s College, Tvm. She loves food and can hardly resist yummy & appetizing non-veg dishes. She savors her leisure time trying out various restaurants & cuisines and spice up her time at home refining her culinary skills.
