In 1965, Central began a tradition for each graduating class planting a tree and an identifying plaque on campus. Over the years, about 20 classes have purchased and planted trees to represent their classes. Some of the trees survived but some were removed during the recent construction of buildings and parking lots. In 2006, the CRAA Tree Planting Program commemorating each class began. We planted 19 pear trees in the spring of 2006. Plantings included tree, topsoil, fertilizers, and a plaque indicating year of graduation. The approximate cost was $400. An additional 18 crimson maple trees were planted in October 2006. In 2007, 13 dogwoods were planted. Sadly, in 2009, 13 of the trees died so we replaced them in 2010. We are presently working on purchasing and placing the last of the plaques.
To all members of graduating classes who have not collected any money at this time, please feel free to contact the CRAA at crhsaa@gmail.com even a donation of $10 would give your class a start in the right direction. Think about adding it to your reunion ticket price and/or holding a 50/50 at the reunion to support your tree/plaque donation.
If you have not sent in a donation of $425.00 and you would like to donate directly to the Alumni Association for your class tree and plaque, you can send a check to CRAA PO Box 150 Bayville, NJ 08721 and please indicate the donation and class on your check .
We are a tax-exempt organization and your donation may be tax-deductible. We have donation forms available upon request.
Thank you for your continued support.
