It is also possible to replace the half turns in the telescope with kisses to create a Telescope Kiss. The original dance notes on this are below.
For Four (Square, 8 bars)
This figure is called Telescope Kiss.
(4) 1st couple lead the telescope (7s) and kiss partner (2 x 3s). (Kiss on the 2nd 3).
(4) 2nd couple lead back (as usual). Kiss partner again and turn to your opposite.
(8) Repeat, 2nd man & 1st lady leading (kiss opposite twice).

For Eight (Square, 8 bars)
This figure is called Grand Telescope or Grand Telescope Kiss.
Telescopes can easily be done grand. One set of four half turns or kisses first, while the other performs the telescope normally. Then, while the first couple is telescoping across the set, the second is half turning or kissing. A Grand Telescope Kiss is normally called as "Grand telescope kiss, heads kiss first, sides telescope." It is also possible to reverse this figure.
