The Cayuga Bird Club is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for the appreciation, study and conservation of birds. The club's membership and educational and conservation activities are enriched and strengthened by the contributions of people with varied experiences, perspectives, lifestyles, and values. We strive to provide opportunities to learn about birds and their conservation and habitats to people of all backgrounds and communities. We are committed to fostering an inclusive organization and increasing the diversity of our club’s members, officers, and volunteers.
The Club strives to support and provide opportunities for the myriad ways each of us appreciates and is enriched by the experience of birding and the opportunity to interact both with nature and others. We promote each person’s right to access and to experience the outdoors freely and safely and are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed.
We are committed to identifying and changing our organization-wide and individual practices and policies that may contain bias or are the result of limiting structures. We are further dedicated to recruiting, engaging, supporting, cultivating, and incorporating diverse perspectives and experiences in the Club's communications and programs. The Club will extend its outreach efforts and work to identify and explore new opportunities for including members of the wider community in our programs and club activities aimed at the enjoyment, study, and conservation of wild birds.
