Introduction / Introdução

Gaúcho from the Brazilian Pampas, I am an engineer and Linux enthusiast.

I teach mostly numerical simulation to Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Alberta.

I apply computer models to study the winds on Mars, the production of droplets in human cough, and Netzero Energy Houses (houses that produce as much energy as they consume), and enhanced oil recovery with SAGD. Check out my university page.

I am also a Christian, more precisely a confessional Lutheran affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Canada. I disagree with Einstein and I believe there is only one way I can live my life: working within the limitations of logic and Physics as though nothing is a miracle (secondary causes), but knowing full well that at the most fundamental and metaphysical level, where the scientific method does not apply and experiments cannot be replicated, everything is a miracle (Primary Cause). And here is why I do Science: Psalm 111:2.

Eu sou professor na Engenharia Mecânica e leciono principalmente simulação numérica na Universidade de Alberta.

Sou também cristão, mais especificamente luterano confessional. Cresci na IELB e hoje sou membro da LCC. Eu discordo do Einstein e penso que há somente uma maneira de viver minha vida: trabalhando dentro das limitações da lógica e da física, como se nada fosse um milagre (causas secundárias), mas tendo a certeza de que, no nível mais fundamental e metafísico, onde o método científico não se aplica e experimentos não são reproduzíveis, tudo é um milagre (Causa Primária).
