B17 pack released

Feb 21 2021

NEW RELEASE - A 'new' loco - the BR-era B17-6 is now available. The pack is available on the 'Files / Locomotives' page. This will also be available on UKTS.

The B17 was an Eastern region specialist – originally intended for the lightly-laid lines and weak bridges of the Great Eastern region. It was paired with the small GER 3700 gallon tender to allow the combination to turn on the many 50 foot turntables in East Anglia. The first locos were all named after stately houses and the class were known as ‘Sandringhams as a result. After they had built the first few batches they started using the names of football clubs and incorporating the team colours and a brass football on the splasher – these became known as ‘footballers’. The locos were ubiquitous in the Eastern region and, later on, in the former Great Central region too (mainly the later models which also used the group standard 4200 gallon tender).

This mod attempts to create a B17-6 using the base of Pete Harvey’s B17-5. .
