This route covers the East Coast Main Line (KX to York) and the Cambridge Main Line (as far as Ely) plus sundry Cambridgeshire minor routes. This is a big, resource-intensive route with a lot of dependencies. If you have installed the previous versions then you will have a lot of this already.
NB. with the forthcoming demise of UKTS I have revised the installation to ensure that (almost) all assets are available on other locations or on this site. Everything listed is freeware unless otherwise stated.
To use this route you must have the 'Train Simulator East Coast Main Line London - Peterborough' payware route from RSC - this route will not run without it!
For scenery North of Yaxley through York you will also need CreativeRails 'East Coast' (York-Peterborough) payware route. (Seems you can use either the original or the modern one as they both provide the right assets).
Install these next (even if you have done so with the older versions):
Cambridge Lines & The ECML - 3rd Party Assets - 4 of 4 (UPDATED FOR MISSING RSC FOLDER)
Then install following route packs:
Scenarios (if you have a previous release and have modified some scenarios then save a copy of those and re-insert afterwards)
Stocklist for scenarios
These assets are on this site (with thanks to the UKTS-FP team for allowing me to host them)
UKTS FP Foliage
UKTS FP Railway Buildings
UKTS FP Terrain textures
Great Northerner (golden-age-rails.com - freeware) – (conveyors, girder bridge etc)

(thanks to rattenReich for noticing that the old link didn't work)
This pack was available on 3DTrains website (freeware). Sadly the 3dTrains site is (seemingly) now permanently offline - however the files are mirrored on ChrisTrain's site here - right at the bottom - use the archived/mirrored download links. The trees & bushes are quite extensively used so it is worth taking the time to get this.
3DTrains – RW_Rural_Landscapes_Freeware
On UKTS-archive:
UKTS_28579_windmill (file id 28579) only used in one or two locations - nice eye-candy but very optional
Available on the Armstrong Powerhouse website (payware) - or use the 'Weather patch' on my site to use the standard Kuju weather instead:
Available on the Vulcan Productions website (freeware):
VP grass pack – used in various locations - not essential but adds extra 'immersion'
These 'legacy' assets packs were included in the basic game up to TS2013. If your installation is a fresh copy of TS2013 onwards then you may not have them. To check, in the Steam Library window, right-click on 'Train Simulator' and select “View Downloadable Content”. You need to ensure the following (payware) items are in this list:
Railworks 3 Legacy Assets Foliage (now included in the European loco pack?)
RSDL Stations Pack (freeware) or 'AP Station Pack', also known as the 'UK Buildings Model Pack' and sometimes 'Railworks AssetPack01' - this used to be freeware but is now only bundled with some payware routes (see the bottom of this post for a partial list). I use bits of this pack extensively so it is worth getting one of the payware routes to get hold of the pack. The assets are used across many 3rd-party routes so a good 'investment'.
If you want the water troughs at Langley, Werrington, Scrooby and Muskham to actually work then you also need the wonderful payware route:
'Riviera Line: Exeter to Kingswear' - from Steam.
Some assets will report as 'missing' in RWTools but you don't need to worry about them:
several missing 'cunningn\Cambs\Environment\Terrain\Decals' - these are developer bits and irrelevant
firebuckets etc from Exeter-Kingswear - eye candy
VictoryWorks\GWRSaint\Scenery\Trackside\TPO stuff - eye candy for the water troughs.
These UKTS Freeware Packs are required to run many of the included scenarios and are hosted on this site - they are not required to load the route but are de rigeur if you want to run the scenarios:
UK Steam #1
UK Carriages #1
UK Classic Diesel and Electric #1
UK Wagons #1
Malcolm Mackay’s BPO etc wagons are available here:
https://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/wagons.html
See the manual for details of additional requirements for individual scenarios - the manual (and a rolling stock list used in the scenarios) are in the 'Manuals folder under 'EN' (for English) and are titled 'Cambridge...'.
This route could not have been built without the use of assets created by many authors who have donated the results of their efforts to the community. I am extremely grateful to them all, and in particular to those who have permitted me to package the majority of the assets into a Pack to make installation easier:
Acorn, BarnsRS, Brendan, Buckeye, Chaddock Engineering, Decapod, Dominique, eyore, icepak, JADsHome, JeffLayf,
karma99, kngtrains, letsRole, LightBlueWorld (Andy), Longbow, MigDesign, Mike Rennie, Mundo, Niall Wallace, Richard Maxted, SAD, Willburton, Yelland, nobkins
and all those who have contributed to the freeware packs.
Special thanks must go to the Chaddocks for much advice and the creation of special signals, to Rocky for permission to use his textures, to Mike Simpson for the invaluable “RWTools”, to Geoff Potter for permission to 'borrow' some of his clutter and, of course, to Jim “nobkins” Nobbs for his superb RWDecal tool and for collating the freeware packs that make life much easier for route builders. I would also like to thank Ruth Ivimey-Cook for her original work on the Newmarket line and other aspects of the original route and the original website which contains lots of interesting info on the Cambridgeshire section.
The contents of this pack (route, scenarios, assets etc) are for your own personal use and must not be sold or distributed in any way without the written permission of the route author (Neil Cunningham) or the creator of the individual assets concerned.
