hertz (an aside)

hertz is the physics unit that is used to describe any repeating process. 

• 1 hertz is one repetition per second

• 1 kilohertz is one thousand repetitions per second

• 1 megahertz is one million repetitions per second

In diagnostic ultrasound you will see hertz being used to quantify three processes:

1. The transducer frequency (in megahertz)

2. The pulse repetition frequency (in kilohertz)

3. The frame rate (in hertz)
