When the Boy Scouts of America chose the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California to kick off their Centennial Celebration, the occasion was marked with a flurry of spectacular new patches.
The BSA National Award-winning Rose Parade float was depicted on a large, beautifully colored back patch. The patch measures 7 inches across and 5 inches high. The upper section of the golden oval border contains the title of the float: "Celebrating the Adventure-Continuing the Journey" while lower border reads "Tournament of Roses-Pasadena, California" The BSA 2010 logo appears below the float and "100" appears in gold numerals above the float. This unique back patch is the crown jewel of this BSA Centennial patch collection.
The Boy Scout float was deco
rated mainly by scouts from the San Gabriel Valley, Orange County and Los Angeles Area Councils. Other patches include three 4-inch patches representing the three councils who joined forces to make the Rose Parade the perfect launching pad for celebrating the 100th Year of Scouting.
An additional set of three 3-inch patches was designed for the scouts and other volunteers from these three councils who actually worked on the float itself. I have also included the special Rose Parade pin.
The parade vendors sold out of these pins the first day they opened their stands, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE PARADE! In all, this set contains 8 pieces: 1 back patch; three 4-inch patches; three 3-inch patches and 1 pin.
