recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts in America, the Orange County Council is joining forces with the Los Angeles Area and San Gabriel Valley councils to participate in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The OCBSA has been presented with an opportunity to select volunteers to help with float decoration in December. It's a once-in-a-lifetime

opportunity to be a part of this celebration.

All Scouts must have an adult accompanying them during their shift.

Dry decorating will take place December 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cub Scouts 12 and under may sign up to work on this date ONLY.

Floral decorating will be available in two shifts on December 27, Shift 1 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Shift 2 (3 p.m. to 11 p.m.) One shift for floral decorating is available on December 29, beginning at 4 p.m. Final decoration and float completion will take place December 30.

Directions

Decorating will take place at the Phoenix's Rosemont Pavillion location (700 Seco Street, Pasadena ) across from the Rose Bowl.

For Rosemont Pavilion, go to the Memorial Park Station; walk west on Holly St., right on Fair Oaks Ave. to Walnut St., left to Orange Grove Blvd., right to Rosemont Ave., left to 700 Seco St. (1.7 mi. walk).Free parking near Rosemont Pavilion in Lot I, south of the Rose Bowl. Check-in is at the hospitality area at each location.

Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America Decorating Rules

1. All volunteers MUST be 13 years old or older to be allowed in the Tournament of Roses float decoration site.
2. The ratio of adult to youth must be 1:1 when signing up.
3. All volunteers MUST be assigned and acknowledged by the Orange County Council Tournament of Roses float volunteer and site coordinator.
4. Requests will be granted on a first come, first served basis through registration on the ocbsa.org website. The schedule is based upon the overall manpower needs required by the Phoenix Decorating.
5. Each participant will be asked to specify the number of adults and youth being committed. Phoenix Decorating Company and the Orange County Council Tournament of Roses Committee volunteer coordinator reserves the right to refuse entrance to any volunteers significantly in excess of this number.
6. Please notify Lara Fisher at 714-546-4990 ext. 155 in the event that your attendance changes. This will allow us the time necessary to take corrective action for any manpower shortages or find work for additional volunteers.
7. Manpower needs are determined by Phoenix Decorating Company, and may need modification as work either falls behind or ahead of schedule. A confirmation does not guarantee that you will be able to decorate. We will do our best to notify you prior to your scheduled time in the event such a change becomes necessary. Contact names and phone numbers are critical should it become necessary to notify you of a schedule change. Without a contact name and phone number your request will not be honored.
8. The list of rules and regulations from Phoenix Decorating Company are displayed below. It is imperative that these rules be followed. In the event a volunteer fails to follow these rules, the Council Tournament of Roses Committee volunteer coordinator and float company reserve the right to take corrective action, including refusal of entrance into the rose float site, and expulsion from the work site. These rules will be strictly enforced In order to insure the safety of all volunteers and the completion of the floats.
9. Remember you are representing the Boy Scouts of America at all times. Please be courteous to others. We will not be the only group decorating at our location.

Phoenix Decorating

Rules

1. Please do not bring radios, walkmans, cameras, handbags or jewelry. Bring your I.D. and money only. Fanny packs work great.
2. Wear old but warm clothing and sturdy shoes with closed toe and heel. Sandles/flip-flops/slippers/etc. are NOT safe and individuals without proper footwear will not be allowed in the building.Tie back long hair.
3. Fire lane must be kept open at all times and the area around the float should be kept clean.
4. Please do not expect to use the office phones. Incoming calls will not be accepted for workers and no paging will be allowed from the office. We will take emergency calls only.
5. No one is allowed inside the building during judging when you are asked to step outside. Please do so promptly and remember to take out any personal items with you.
6. All breaks are to be taken outside. All food and drinks are to be kept outside.
7. Volunteers are here to work. There will be some not-so-glamorous jobs that need to be done besides decorating; it all has to be done.
8. No smoking is allowed in the buildings.
9. No more than 3 people are allowed on scaffolding at a time.
10. Please check-in with your Council Tournament of Roses Committee Crew Chief when you arrive at your float and when you leave.

Special Considerations

• Buildings are NOT heated in order to keep the flowers at their best. Please dress accordingly. Temperatures in Pasadena are cool this time of year (60s - 70s during the day, 50s at night). Rain is always a possibility, but since we are indoors you won't get wet; however, this may make temperatures much cooler.
