GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA CENTENIAL
1910 - 2010
Come and celebrate the Glacier National Park and BSA's 100th Anniversary in the last best place.
Since the early 1900's the Boy Scouts of America has taken an active role in assisting the National ParkService by performing service projects. From just 1925 to 1934 alone, Eagle Scouts from across theUnited States came to Glacier National Park to construct trails in what is now known as the Eagle ScoutTrail Project.
To celebrate these key anniversaries in history, the Montana Council has created the Montana Council Service Award to recognize those Scouts who volunteer to perform service projects in Glacier NationalPark during 2010.
Beginning in June and running through mid-August Scout units can sign up for one of the ten designatedweeks to perform service projects throughout the park. Only two units may sign up each week. Each unitwill be made up of a maximum of 15 Scouts and 4 Scouter's. One unit will be on the east side of the park and the other on the west.
To qualify for the service award each Scout and Scouter must participate for a minimum of 16 hours in anorganized unit service project within Glacier National Park. Service projects and their location will bedetermined by the park.
All participating units will receive a fee wavier when entering the park and be given a group campingarea during their stay.
All participants names and their volunteer service project hours will be recorded under the Volunteers inthe Park Program for historical information.
