2024 DENNIS MOORE TROPHY REPORT

 The annual Dennis Moore Tournament took place on Sunday 17th March at Hingham.

Morning session Comprised of Singles and Fours and the afternoon session comprising Pairs and Triples

SINGLES

There were seven Singles playing in a round robin with the winner and runner up decided on points scored.

Winner was Wymondham Chris Mann Winning all 4 games 8 points + 39 shots

Runner up was Hingham Will Townsend winning 4 games 6 points + 1 shot

FOURS

There were six fours, playing in two leagues with the winners and runner up going into a pre drawn knock out.

Winner league 1 was Thetford Clive Eke,Kacy Suffolk,Chloe Suffolk and Jason Martin

Runner up League 1 was Shropham Pat Godbold,Sally Rawnsley Kathy Girling and Mick Gobold

Winner League 2 was  Hingham Cyril Cole, Colin Short,Margaret Hunter and John Hunter

Runner up League 2 was Harling Unicorn Rosie Beckford,June Kendal,Chris Jones and Ian Beckford

In the Semi final   Thetford beat Shropham 9-3 and Harling Unicorn beat Hingham 5-3

 

In the Final Thetford opened with a single. 2nd end no score, third end 1 to Harling 4th end 4 to Harling,5th end a single to Thetford kept their hopes alive  but Harling scored 3 on the last end to win 8-2

PAIRS

There were six pairs playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was Connaught David Aldous and Paul McDonald

 Runner up of League one was Wymondham Jack Marshall and Jon Sparham

Winner of League two was Hingham Ann Stevenson and Sheila Bragg

Runner up of League two was Harling Griffin Loretta Smith and John Davis

In the semi finals Wymondham Beat Hingham 16-1 Harling Griffin beat Connaught 8-6

In the final Griffin opened with a single, Wymondham scored 3 on the 2nd end, Griffins took the next 2 end by a single and a 3 to lead 5-3, Wymondham hit back with a single and a 3 to lead 7-5 after 6 ends. The 7th end was tense as a tight measure saw Griffin earn a single to cut the deficit to one shot. Last end saw Wymondham take a single to win 8-6

 

TRIPLES

There were eight triples playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was  Harling Unicorn Laurie Harris,Joe liRocchi and Ian Hartley

Runner up of League one was Connaught Kathy Arthurton,Malcolm Southgate and Mike Minshull

Winner of League two was Forncett Jan Smail,Mike Smail and Tony Ottewell

Runner up of League two was Harling Griffin Glen Hume,Ron Marsh and George Hume

 In the semi finals Harling Griffin beat Harling Unicorn 13-3 Forncett beat Connaught 8-4

In the final Griffin took the 1st 2 ends with a single and a 2. 3rd end Forncett scored 2, Griffin scored  a single on the 4th end Forncett hit back with a 2 on the 5th, 4-4 the score, Griffin took the lead with a 2 on the 6th end, Forncett soring 3 on the 7th to cut the deficit to 1. Griffin held on with a 2 to win 8-7

The Overall shot trophy was won by Hingham after a one end play of against Wymondham as both scored 89 shots each.
