DENNIS MOORE TOURNAMENT 2016
This year’s tournament was held on 13th March at Hingham, the morning session comprised of singles and fours whilst the afternoon session was comprised of pairs and triples.
8 singles playing in 2 leagues, winners of the leagues were league 1, Jon Sparham from Wymondham, league 2 John Winup from Connaught B.
Jon Sparham opened the final with a 3 and a single, John Winup scored a two on end 3, but Jon immediately hit back with a 4 on end 4 to lead 8-2, John responded well by taking 3 on the next end but Jon took the next 3 ends by a 2 and two singles to lead 12-5 with 2 ends to play. In an attempt to ditch the jack Jon took it off the side and under the competition rules it was 1 shot away, Jon took the last end to win 15-6.
There were 9 fours played in a league, each team playing 4 games after which there were 4 teams on 6 points ,Harling Unicorns +7, Hingham +7 , Runners up Connaught A +19, Mike Parsons, Bill Adcock, Steve Barclay and Steve Hall and Winners Wymondham +31., Hayley Stratton, Mary Fisher, Andrew Jackson and Jack Pye.
There were 9 teams in each of the pairs and triples playing 4 games each after which in the pairs there were two teams on 6 points runners up Wymondham, Pat Saunders and Debbie Sparham +21 and the winners Connaught A Tyrone Musk and Sylvia Parsons +26
In the triples The runners-up on 6 points were Connaught B, Peter Hambling, Malcolm Southgate and Peter King. The winners on 7 points were Banham C. Smith, Bill Francis and Will Hoggan.
The Dennis Moore trophy for overall shots for was won by Wymondham with 148 and Runners up Connaught A with 126
