Kellen Blackmoor, Lord of Upper Gryffnil (Clint)
You are a knight, entitled to be called "Sir" and can expect chivalric conduct from your foes. Once the Gryffnil Valley is pacified and under your control, you will be called Sir Kellen, Lord Gryffnil. You probably have limited experience with managing a fief day-to-day, as your time has mostly been spent either in the field or at the Ducal Court as part of Baron Fortenbras's retinue.
This is a new step in your path to power, and the title of "Lord" is an important one. You have a poorly made map of the region, and will make your way to Castle Gryff with your retinue. Once there, the job will be to make it all work. You probably already have a reputation as a hard-assed killer, since your preferred mode of fighting is to dismount and wade into the melee.
Dame Elika Esfiander, Vassal to Sir Kellen (Dixie)
A young warrior who served with distinction in the City Company of Silverwater, Squire Elika's family are third generation immigrants from the Pershamon Empire. Now successful merchants in the city itself, the Esfiandar's have entered into an arrangement with the Blackmoors, local lords from the nearby Barony of Fortenbras. In exchange for her training and acceptance as a knight, they provide the Blackmoors with funding and supplies during time of war... wars are expensive and this sort of arrangement, while uncommon, is not unheard of.
Sir
Elika was knighted after the Battle of Medrehacz, but remains a vassal of Sir Kellen.
Dimzad the Demonstuncher
Angry, angry Dwarf. Uses shotguns on spiders.
Daisy Bodbog
Half-Orc Mercenary. Uses a two-handed flail.
Regularly Appearing Non-Player Characters
Mira Varen, Attendant to Sir Kellen; a former Pershamon slave, freed in Silverwater by the Esfiandar family and later recommended to serve in Sir Kellen's household. Mira was trained in household management by her former masters, who were land-owning nobles in Susa. As a free woman, she serves primarily as steward for Sir Kellen's administrative affairs. Mira has also become a personal companion and confidant, though she harbors no illusions about her actual status in society and her place in Sir Kellen's life.
Squire Jacob DeClare, Man-at-Arms to Sir Kellen; a young Keller man of commoner status, serves in Sir Kellen's household as a battlefield attendant, groom, and "junior squire". Jacob has no real hopes for knighting, but enjoys the benefits and prestige of serving in his current role. He hopes to simply advance to a secure position in the Blackmoor household, which would bring him some social status. Squire DeClare can ride passably well, and fights with sword and lance. He has also trained with a chirurgeon in battlefield medicine.
Jaxon, Page to Squire Elika; a young Halleck man of commoner status, serves as Squire Elika's groom and personal attendant. Like many Hallecks, Jaxon is hot-tempered and superstitious, but proud of his job. He does not fight alongside his squire, but instead maintains her camp and horses. In a pinch he can fight passably well with a spear or his fists, but prefers not to join in battles.
The Six Archers, Blackmoor soldiers serving Sir Kellen; Alden, Brune, Cagnel, Durvin, Ethmond, and Farrik (RIP) are six commoner archers, professional soldiers who hail from lands held by Sir Kellen's family. They have minimal armor, bucklers and sword, and all can ride but not fight from horseback. Their main virtue is that they use their longbows effectively, and can be trusted to follow orders most of the time. Brave enough in a group on a battlefield, none are willing to go in a hole and fight monsters. They are largely content to serve as Blackmoor household troops, a job which pays steadily and affords them higher status than they would have as farmers.
