FRPG Setting for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition
The Aestas campaign is set in a large region simply called the "Known World". It is divided into two primary regions, the "Keller lands" and the "Pershamon Empire", plus numerous smaller regions, each one vast in its own right. The majority of lands on Aestas are at a high medieval or early Renaissance level of development, with a few exceptions. Primitive groups range from Stone Age to Iron Age, while more advanced groups verge on the early Modern Era in some focused developments. The current year is 830 KY, marking the number of years since the founding of the Keller Empire. The once shattered Keller Empire is on the march, bringing war to lands long quiet, and the Known World stirs. The Aestas fantasy setting is designed to be familiar... there are few major deviations here from what most fantasy RPG fans are familiar with. Humans dominate the world, but share it with elves, dwarves, orcs, and many other races. Most of the themes and tropes you expect can be found here. The religion and politics of the setting are fairly involved, and black powder guns can be found. Enjoy! The website has been filled with a variety of illustrations from old FRPG books and the internet, in hopes of making it more evocative and inspirational. This incarnation of the Aestas setting owes a considerable debt to numerous settings and sources, but the following are direct sources of inspiration: 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons
GURPS Banestorm and GURPS Fantasy
Games Workshop's "Warhammer" role-playing game line
Alderac Games "7th Sea" role-playing game line
"Artesia" Graphic Novels and FRPG by Mark Smylie
