"Social Distortion"
Year: 2013
Dimensions: 12"H x 24 "W x 4"D
Materials: metal, plastic, electronics
Remarks: This sculpture takes a traditional radio device and turns it into sound art. This is accomplished by the dial repeatedly sweeping across the radio spectrum while distortion is applied to the audio. Also individual stations are tuned into, and distortion is also applied in varying degrees. The concept of the piece is similar to my other works in that there is an investigation of chaotic sound and subversion of common machinery.
