Simon Fletcher

Cohort to Ceridwen, warlock

Simon is a 26-year-old Oeridian man from Grabford, Furyondy, where he was the adopted son of a soldier and his wife. He is tall and slim but solid of build with square shoulders. His skin is olive, his eyes black, and his hair equally black, short-cropped in a military style, and curly. He is darkly handsome, with a prominent nose and square jaw.

He typically wears a beautifully crafted chainmail shirt with silver pauldrons forged to resemble a pair of claws, their talons clutching his shoulders. On his left arm he sometimes bears a metal buckler upon whose face is engraved the likeness of a snarling dragon head with a suggestion of spread wings behind. His weapon of choice is a slender, steel chain that grows heavier towards its ends and is studded with heavy spikes; it is obvious that the unusual weapon has been lovingly crafted and equally well cared for, each barbed spike curving uniformly to the rest, the metal gleaming a perfect white-silver color.

Otherwise quiet and pensive, in battle Simon seems to lose himself to his blood lust. He fights with a combination of his spiked chain and his strange, seemingly limitless power: the ability to loose blasts of destructive energy by merely concentrating, either as a bolt of energy hurled into a foe at distance, or in concert with an attack of his chain, focusing the power down the chain and into his foe when the spikes hit home.

This fearful power of destruction is not Simon's only mysterious ability. As well, his dark eyes pierce veils that others cannot pierce; he can see in the dark, he sees things that are magically invisible as though they were not, and he can see magical auras by concentrating. He also possesses a supernatural resistance to mundane weapons, their edges failing to cut him as badly as they would a normal man. Simon has no idea whence come his strange powers, having never known his real parents.

Simon met Ceridwen when he was imprisoned beneath Lord Gildus Cornandin's castle after accidentally killing a man in a tavern brawl. He was immediately enthralled by her, and she was equally intrigued by his mysterious demeanor and his strange supernatural powers, sharing with him reverence for Wee Jas. When Ceridwen left Gildus, she freed Simon from the dungeon and took him with her as her guardian and companion.
