Belsomig

Belsomig

Priest of Water, Temple of Elemental Purity

This name can mean two things, either the dead Ettin which Kelno, the High Priest of Air, resurrected into Undeath, or else the High Priest of Water, who shared the name. You probably intend to find out about the High Priest, as the Undead version had a somewhat limited lifespan, having been dismantled in the Umberhulk Cage in the Zoo level of the Temple.

The party encountered the High Priest at the entrance to his domain in the Temple, where the Barbarian Dak Sevla was waiting to be sacrificed. In the battle, he appeared thus:

"Standing six feet, two inches, Belsomig is a walking tower of steel. He is dressed from head to foot in decorative steel plate mail, burnished to a dull golden green glow. He wears a flowing green silken cloak and golden pauldrons at his shoulders carved to resemble fish creatures. Atop his head is a burnished steel helm with carved steel tentacles that extend down to protect his neck. The result is a helm that resembles an octopus-like creature perched upon his head. His golden locks of hair spill out beneath the temple and flow like golden rivulets a quarter of the way down his back. His visor, carved like demonic shark eyes is raised to reveal his poignant features, his glimmering brown eyes and handsome face. Hung about his neck is a gold and silver medallion carved to resemble an octopus-like creature with a horrible visage set into the midst of it and decorated with valuable gems.

In his right hand, Belsomig carries a massive mace, the spikes of which are carved to resemble cone-shaped seashells. The haft is lined is silver and held in his gauntleted hand. In his other hand is a massive shield, with a raised swirling design carved onto it, as if it were the eye of a hurricane. Ready for battle, Belsomig’s belt is stuffed with potions and scrolls and there is a crossbow slung over his shoulder."

[Session 14]

He may have a lingering dislike of the party, for when Ceridwen took the form of Lareth and had possession of the Orb of Golden Death, he was tricked into obedience and let the party pass into the under-realm of the Temple [Session 20].

He was accompanied by priests named Morvin, Castor and Seerea.

"Morvin wears a loose green robe over breastplate armor. In his right hand is a loaded crossbow. He has a shield slung over his left shoulder and wears a spear on his back. Another of those 10 tentacled rings cover his left hand. Morvin has brown eyes and shortly cropped hair beneath his hood, which is pulled up to shadow his face. Several scrolls are within easy reach at his waist."

"Castor is dressed in full plate armor, burnished to a dull golden-green hue. He is armed with mace and shield. Over his back is a long green cloak. He wears a large ring clamped over the gauntlet of his right hand, which resembles a 10-tentacled monster. Castor has dark eyes from which he stares at you beneath his metal visor."
