The Nine

The Nine, otherwise known as "The Hidden Nine" are (or perhaps were) a secretive organisation of Slave Lords. They called the Hidden City of Suderham their home, to which vast quantities of trade flowed at their influence. Information about their existence and individual identities was extremely rare, to the point that a wizard such as Mordenkainen deemed it hard-to-come-by. Mordenkainen also noted that such information could put the possessors of it at risk of death (thread).

Suderham has since been razed, presumably consumed in the overwhelming fires of the Oerth Dragon's rebirth. The original nine who lived there have been scattered to the winds, or else executed in the process. It is unknown how the organisation has fared since the crater of Suderham reawakened.

It is unknown whether the membership of their "council" is always Nine -- those who passed away in the fires of the volcano may have been replaced, or the council may no longer exist in a formal way. It always seemed an unstable organisation, prone to the despotic whims of its constituents. They originally comprised:

  • Mask
  • The Executioner
  • The Dark Queen
  • The Servant of the Oerth Dragon
  • The Sage
  • The Warrior (deceased)
  • The Trickster
  • The Master Thief, Ketta
  • The Savage

The party saw all of these Lords from the ramparts of Dar Kethord's fortress in Suderham (thread), so verifying their existence.
