Mumbles Pier was designed by William Sutcliffe Marsh. Construction of this 254.5 metre pier began in 1897 and was completed the following year at a cost of £17,000. It opened officially on 10th May 1898. Built for the Mumbles Railway & Pier Company as the terminus of the line from Swansea, it is now Grade II listed, one of only six surviving iron piers in Wales.
