John Trevor Barkley (1825-1882) married Jane Stanley (1826-1907)

John Trevor Barkley married Jane Stanley at St James's Church Westminster in 1856. She the daughter of Cumberland M.P. Edward Stanley of Ponsonby Hall (1790-1863) and Mary Douglas (1796-1884).

John Trevor was a railway engineer overseeing the building of railways in what was then the Ottoman Empire, now Romania and Bulgaria, working together his younger brothers Henry, George and Robert and his brother-in-law, Douglas Austhwaite Stanley. Their only child was born in Constantinople (Istanbul).

1. Constance Barkley (1858-1937) married Robert John Parker (1857-1918) in Waddington, Yorkshire, in 1884.

Robert John Parker was the son of Rev Richard Parker (1809-1887) and Elizabeth Coffin (1821-1904). He was a barrister who became a Lord Chief Justice and took the title Baron Parker Waddington.

1.1 Vivien Parker (1884-1974) married Tristram Beresford Hart (1884-1963) at St George's, Hanover Square in 1915.

Tristram Beresford Hart came from a prominent Irish family. His father was George Vaughan Hart (1841-1912), a barrister and Professor of Law at Trinity College, Dublin; his mother was Mary Elizabeth Hone (1852-1931). He was civil engineer who worked on the construction of sewers in London. At the time of the 1939 census Tristram Hart was retired and he and Vivien were living at Longbottom Dean Farm near Amersham, Bucks.

1.2 Gwendoline Parker (1887-1981) married George Ernest Schuster (1881-1982) at St George's, Hanover Square in 1908.

Sir George Schuster KCSI KCMG CBE MC was the son of banker and barrister Ernest Joseph Schuster (1851-1924) and Mathilde Elizabeth Weber (1855-1951). He had a long, distinguished career in public service - see Wikipedia page below.

Sir George and Lady Gwendoline lived at Nether Worton House, Middle Barton, Oxfordshire.

1.3 Trevor Tempest Parker (1890-1973) married Marie Louise Leonie Kleinwort (1892-1949) at St Georges, Hanover Square in 1917.

Marie Louise Leonie Kleinwort was born in Belgium, the daughter of wealthy banker Herman Greverus Kleinwort (1857-1942) and Marguerite Marie Jeanne Gunther (1863-1935).

The Hon Captain Trevor Tempest Parker served in the Royal Navy and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions on board HMS Barham at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. HMS Barham suffered 13 hits and he was deafened in the battle.

The Parkers were living in Cuckfield, Sussex, at the time of the 1939 census. Their last years were spent living in Hampshire.

1.4 John Stanley Parker (1892-1962) married Marion Blanche Taberer (died 1942) in 1921.

Marion Blanche Taberer was the daughter of Walter Stringfellow Taberer (1872-1938) and Blanche Hereford Hook (1877-1958). Her parents were both born in South Africa and then moved up to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe); her father was a notable rugby player and cricketer while her mother excelled at tennis.

After the death of his first wife John Stanley Parker married Mary Margaret Mackay, daughter of R H Mackay, widow of Lieutenant Donald Carmichael.

John Stanley Parker settled in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). He was a director of the Thorneycreek Ranching Company and became secretary of the Rhodesia Tobacco Association. He died in Goromonzi, Mashonaland.

1.5 Hubert Lister Parker (1900-1972) married Loryn Bowser (1901-1990) in Knaresborough in 1924

Loryn Bowser was the daughter of Oscar Tilton Bowser (1843-1934) and Rose von Padburg (1875-1929). She was born in Kentucky, USA. She was previously married in the USA to George F Koppin. He sued for divorce stating that his marriage to this 'chorus girl' had lasted only one month. Loryn had been living in France prior to her marriage and when it ended she returned to Europe.

Hubert Lister Parker was Lord Chief Justice from 1958 to 1971 and also took the title Baron Parker of Waddington. His marriage to Loryn lasted for 48 years until his death.
