Empaths

Empaths are a rarity, they are not truly a race in the traditional sense, but they are a psionic race of sorts.

No one knows why people are born empathic, at least among those that know about empaths. Upon Earth, the general population had no idea about their existence. In fact, most empaths that told others about their abilities were usually thought to be insane and diagnosed accordingly.

The existence of empaths is still a widely guarded secret. While the general populace knows of their existence, most empaths hide their abilities from others because of the way people have treated their kind in the past.

Relations:

Not everyone is keen on empaths, and some would treat a known empath negatively out of fear. Those that out themselves run the risk of being ridiculed, shunned, or treated poorly in other ways.

Society:

They often live in areas inhabited by others of the race they resemble. The major difference is that their ability to age is sometimes dramatically different than their heriatge race, they never truly lose their youthful appearance, but they also don't have the longevity of elves. An empaths slower rate of development could lead a human looking empath to move around a lot once they’ve reached a certain age to avoid suspicion.

Roughly averages 1,000 years.

Physical Description:

Since empaths look and act just like any other humanoid, it is not a difficult task to hide what they are. Empaths have the features, builds, and appearances of the race they resemble, or their heritage race; however they take on none of that races’ racial abilities.
