There are so many opportunities for quality reflection, but one of the most critical to your learning is your reflection on failure. By examining failure, you have the chance to consider the reasons why you failed. Practicing is an experiment, and in failing you find ways to improve such that on the final performance you do your best work. When you succeed at something, you should be thinking about what you did to be successful and look for ways to continue doing those things.
The Growth Mindset suggests that everyone can be great as long as they try often and hard enough. What we know is that practice leads to improvement, that studying leads to understanding, that practicing leads to more perfect performance.
To reflect on success and failure, you need to create opportunities for yourself. Here are a few of the ways inside and outside the classroom you can practice the concepts, knowledge and skills you learn through the Diploma Programme. When you succeed, or better yet fail, you should take time to reflect on the reasons why and what you can do for next time.
