After Jan returned to drawing sessions, (she started going to GCC with me around 2010), she renewed her interest in painting. She liked utilizing her blind contour studies for some abstract figure paintings and also wanted to do some portrait work. Her technique in oils is to work rather thinly, almost like watercolor.
The "Fish Woman" painting actually goes back quite a few years to a workshop we attended at a gallery in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The abstract watercolor is also an older work now owned by daughter Donya. The portrait of Jordan is our granddaughter and Jan gave her the painting for her room. "Janet's Joy of Babies" won 2nd Place in the 2014 Sun City Art Show in the Portrait and Figure division.
