Step 4: Data analysis and scenario interpretation

In this step, you will face the laboratory work: you are no more in the Excavation Site, and your work is to analyze the evidences with the help of the different Frames (skulls and teeth, maps and chronology,...) to get an answer to the following questions:

    • Which is the hominid species you consider this Excavation Site contains?
    • Which are the evidences? Are they strong or weak evidences? Which other evidences would help you to confirm your results?
    • Are there discordant evidences? Which is the most probable explanation?
    • Consider that your excavation site is situated at the population of Jürmala, near Riga, in Letonia (EU). Does it fit with the current knowledge on the distribution and chronology of hominid species? Which new model proposes your discovering?

Procedures

1) With the guide of the Evidences analysis scaffold, analize each evidence and stablish wich conclusions support each evidence and the strength of the conclusions. Use the Frames to stablish associations.

2) interprete your data in the frame of the Maps and Chronology Frame.

At the end of this step, include in your Excavation Diary some comments about this analysis. Where all the evidences equally informative? Do you think your conclusion is based on strong evidences or in weak evidences? Where there discordant evidences? How did you solve it?
