Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in North America. It is located in Yosemite National Park in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Yosemite Falls can be seen from many places in Yosemite Valley. There is a wonderful short nature hike to the base of Yosemite Falls. The hike to the base can be extended to a longer loop. I highly recommend hiking the entire loop which is still a very easy level hike.

The best time of year to see Yosemite Falls is in the spring and early summer. This is when the falls has the most water in it.

The description John Muir gave of Yosemite Falls in his book The Yosemite is still accurate today:

"The Yosemite Fall is separated into an upper and a lower fall with a series of falls and cascades between them, but when viewed in front from the bottom of the Valley they all appear as one. So grandly does this magnificent fall display itself from the floor of the Valley, few visitors take the trouble to climb the walls to gain nearer views."

There is also a hike to the top of Yosemite Falls. The hike to the top of Yosemite Falls is very difficult. On the trail to the top of Yosemite Falls you get some nice views, however, the views from the easy loop trail and other places in the valley are even better.
