Rock Creek Canyon Little Lakes Valley - California Sierra Nevada Mountains - Mosquito Flat Trailhead
Rock Creek Canyon Little Lakes Valley in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains has some spectacular scenery.
Little Lakes Valley is an excellent area for day hiking or easy backpacking. To hike in this area, you begin at the Mosquito Flat Trailhead at an elevation of 10,300 feet. Because of the high elevation of the trailhead, you have some easy access to the back country.
The Little Lakes Valley/Morgan Pass Trail passes through beautiful Little Lakes Valley, an area containing many lakes, riparian meadows, and excellent views of the towering peaks surrounding the valley. You can also explore many meadows and lakes off of the trail.
Little Lakes Valley is in a wilderness area outside the National Park so you may bring dogs. Check out our video of our backpacking adventure with our dog up Rock Creek Canyon.

This hike begins at the Mosquito Flat Trailhead which is on the eastern side of the Sierras not far from Mamoth Lakes.
