Comment poser une question
Le point le plus important c’est le rôle de
l’AUXILIAIRE (rappel : les auxiliaires sont be, have, do/did, et les modaux: can, may etc.).
- Il y a deux possibilités :
. soit il n’y a pas d’auxiliaire dans la phrase affirmative et on ajoute DO :
You want cake -> Do you want cake? What do you want?
. soit il y a déjà un auxiliaire dans la phrase affirmative et ce même auxiliaire ne fait que
monter devant le sujet : He will come to the party tonight -> Will he come to the party tonight?
You have seen the thief. -> Have you seen the thief? Where have you seen the thief?
Donc il y a toujours un auxiliaire (be, have ou do/did) dans une question, et l’ordre des
éléments est toujours le suivant :
WH- + AUXiliaire + Sujet + Verbe + Complément
Ex: What have you given to Fiona? Why do you ask so many questions?
SAUF quand la question porte sur le sujet : Who came here last night? What fell down?
- C’est l’auxiliaire qui se conjugue avec le sujet, et pas le verbe principal.
Ex: Does he want sugar? et pas !!Do he wants sugar?!!
Did he go to the cinema? et pas !!Do he went to the cinema?!! ou !!Did he went to the
cinema?!!
Rappel des pronoms interrogatifs:
qui = who / quoi = what / quand = when / où = where / pourquoi = why / comment = how /
combien = how much ou how many
