Pieces of Poetry is a unit is designed to give students the opportunity to have fun with poetry. Participants will view poems through the eyes of several poets, and will discover that poetry comes in many forms to express various feelings and moods. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and originality in discussion and writing and will further develop advanced language arts and communication skills.
Students participating in this unit will:
Enhance his/her awareness of the power and beauty of words, and begin to see their language as an instrument of many talents.
Explore and develop ideas and feelings through the writing of various poetry forms.
Demonstrate creativity and originality in his/her writing.
Interpret/recognize point of view, mood, purpose or theme.
