Originally known as PC Cincinnati, the club came under the ownership of Powell Crosley in 1933, who renamed it for himself, and gave the team the iconic nickname of Roamios, named for an early version of the in-car radio. The purchase allowed the club to be heard on Mr. Crosley's network of stations led by "America's Station" WLW radio, who still carries the club today, even with a lack of success in the pre-NPL days.
