Goal posts are added to the top of goals, reaching a height of 10' from the main crossbar, set at the end of each goal. As a result, the high goal is added to the scoring ledger. It is worth 3 points.

Four new clubs are added to the second division(Newark PC, Springfield (MA) United, Vermont 1791, and the Montreal Pigball Club). As such, and establishing a precedent for future expansion, there was no relegation from the 1st division after the 1900 season. The Manhattans and St. Louis Athletic were moved to the 1st division in any case.
To allow for a shorter season, several rounds of matches were played on Wednesday afternoons.
Boston Rovers win Premiership by 6 points from New York Scotch.
1902
Tackling a player who does not have the ball is made a free possesion for the offended team.
New York Scotch reverse tables on Rovers and win Premiership by 3 points.
1903
The Western League is created in California with 8 clubs, 3 of whom, Hollywood Town, Mission Athletic and San Francisco PC would join the Pigball League later on.
Girdled by Darrell Kuharsick's 18 scores, Washington United win the Premiership going away, beating St. Louis Athletic to the title by 10 points.
1904
Matthew Roberts, a former Army Colonel, is named the Pigball League's first president, and writes out the constitution that will guide the organization for over a century. The new constitution allowed for outside clubs to join if a member club wasn't financially competent, permitted trading of players, and established guidelines for stadiums. Colonel Roberts also establishes the first headquarters of the league in Philadelphia. Prior to his appointment, PL matters were handled by an executive board.
Washington United defend their Premiership, but only by 3 points over Detroit Grande.
1905
Montréal PC are removed for competitive reasons, and Peoria PC are added.
The Pigball League votes to add 8 new clubs for 1906, with an emphasis on teams in the Upper South and Midwest, and creating 20 team divisions.
Darrell Kuharsick records 26 scores in 30 games, and Washington United win the 1st division Premiership for the 3rd year in a row.
1906
No relegation this year, as 8 new clubs are welcomed in(Bridgeport PC, Camden City, Milwaukee Bavarian, Minneapolis PC, Richmond Capitol Club, St. Paul City, Wilmington 1781 and Indianapolis Town).
Washington United fails to win 4th premiership in a row and finished 7th. Detroit Grande win their 1st Premiership.
1907
The use of the wedge is outlawed.
The PA Cup opens competition to all professional clubs. Using this new found opportunity to compete, Vermont 1791(promoted to the 1st division that year) claim the cup at Burlington Park by a 15-9 score over Detroit Grande.
The Premiership is tied between Spring Garden and Georgetown United. The tie goes to the Hoyas on account of a sweep of 3rd placed Detroit Grande, whilst the Gardeners had split the season series.
1908
Darrel Kuharsick, unable to play in 1907 due to a salary dispute, returns to Washington City's lineup, but the Columbians place 11th in the Premiership standings, their first placing outside of the top ten in club history.
Spring Garden claims it's first premiership by 3 points over Brooklyn City.
1909
New York Scotch win their first premiership in 8 years, beating Brooklyn City by two points.
Kuharsick scores 55 goals for 6th placed Washington City, becoming the first Pigballer to score more than 50 goals in the season.
