Thank You for Your Support
Alberta Fire Aid would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us — whether through emails, Facebook comments, or in-person messages of appreciation. Your encouragement reminds us why we do what we do: helping firefighters protect the communities they serve.
Below are just a few testimonials and special mentions from departments that have received turnout gear and equipment through Alberta Fire Aid. These messages reflect only a small part of the impact being made — but they mean the world to us. We’re humbled by the gratitude and proud to see this gear getting a meaningful second life.
Dear Alberta Fire Aid Society,
We as a department would like to take this opportunity to write a short thank you note and provide a testimonial to support the great work you do.
We first contacted AFAS via their facebook page requesting information about ordering 5 sets of turnout gear for our department. I spoke with Dean and we can’t recommend the service they provide highly enough, the service the AFAS provides to firefighters here in Western Canada is literally a life saver. Fire departments like ours, that operate on a very tight budget, can now access good quality, clean, well maintained turnout gear at an absolute fraction of its open market value.
If you are looking for great quality, affordable turnout gear then we as a department can’t recommend the Alberta Fire Aid Society highly enough, the ordering process is simple, the paperwork is simple and it’s a very fast process.
So, all of us here at WDFD would like to thank again everyone involved with running the Alberta Fire Aid Society, the work you do has a hugely positive impact on the volunteer fire departments that order and receive the gear you guys send out.
Best regards,
Captain Jim McGinty,
Wapella and District Fire Department
We received a turnout coat and a couple pairs of pants from the Alberta Fire Aid Society last spring for a couple of recent additions to our department. The transaction was quick, easy and communications were answered promptly. The reasonable cost of shipping to receive some top notch late model, brand name gear was well worth the application. The gear came cleaned and was in excellent condition. I routinely recommend firefighters in our association utilize this phenomenal service and I would encourage any departments in need to certainly do so as well ! Thanks again Dean and crew for everything you guys do !

East Sooke Fire received five sets of turnout gear, several fall arrest harnesses and a few SCBA face masks from the Alberta Fire Aid Society. Everything we received was in excellent condition, clean and well packed. The communication I had with the members of this society was very pleasant and quick. As a small, strictly volunteer fire department we are very grateful for the helpfulness and professionalism our firefighter brothers and sisters from Alberta have shown us. Those guys are great!!

An inspiring group of future firefighters!
Edmonton Public Schools - Emergency Response Career Pathways program at Centre High!
While we were helping get the 18 level 2 Fire/EMS students fitted into gear, we were also able to spend some time answering questions about our own careers in emergency services.
It is inspiring to see such a eager group of students wanting to make Emergency Services & helping others their lifelong career.

The Busby Fire Department received turnout gear from AFA and it is in awesome condition. It came professionally cleaned and sized for our members. There was minimal wear and members who received gear commented on the quality of the gear.
This gear allowed us to use funds to purchase other critical items such as helmets, boots, gloves, and upgraded (but still used) SCBA all with our limited annual budget.

The Saltcoats Volunteer Fire Department requested 3 x size 46 jackets and 3 x size 40 pants and we were fortunate to receive what we had requested. Everything we received was in excellent condition, clean and well packed. The turnout gear was presented to the newest members of our volunteer fire department.
We were amazed at the quick response we received from the Society. As a small, volunteer fire department we are very grateful for the help our firefighter received.
Once again thank you.

Our Fire Department, Colonsay and District Volunteer Fire Department, is very grateful for the Turn Out gear we have received over the last 2 years. The Turn Out Gear was very clean and had virtually no wear on it. The low cost has allowed us to outfit all 19 of our volunteers. Previous to this we were sharing gear and had a hard time trying to replace any of our old gear that became damaged.
With the Alberta Fire Aid Turn Out gear all of our volunteer members are well protected. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about the gear or the process to acquire it.
Thanks Again for this service.

We (the 737 Fire Department) would like to thank you for the opportunity to receive 5 sets of “Turnout” gear from your organization. As we are just a new fire department, with a limited budget (and knowledge) we appreciate the availability of used high quality fire equipment.
I am attaching several pictures of the equipment and look forward to acquiring more as we become more experienced and educated.
Kevin Melle – Administrator of 737 Fire Department
The gear we received was greatly appreciated. We put it in use immediately. Everything fit well and was lightly used. No complaints here.
