Accomplishments

Equipment Counter:

As of March 25th 2018 - Since our inception we have distributed 285 sets of firefighter turnout gear to departments within Canada. Along with this critical PPE, we have supported departments in need with traffic cones, wildland skid units, fire hose, N95 masks, trauma bags, SCBA masks, voice amps, PPV fans, fall arrest gear, flashlights, ladders, purple K firefighting agent, helmets, boots, and more.

In addition to this we have supported the Firefighter Aid for Ukraine mission with 60 sets of turnout gear and various equipment and tools.

To date the total appraised value of goods donated to canadian fire departments in need exceeds $500 000.00

All would not be possible without the generous support of our municipal sponsors.

2014 Accomplishments

  1. Obtain donation from municipal donor.
  2. Partner with the Busby Volunteer Fire Department Society to facilitate the early stages of operations
  3. Distribute donated items to 6 rural Alberta fire departments
  4. Facilitate awareness of AFA amongst municipal departments
  5. Receive large donation from corporate sponsor - Motion Canada (Formerly Commercial Solutions)
  6. Develop guidelines for safe distribution of equipment

2015 Accomplishments

  1. Early 2015 - Distribute equipment obtained from Motion Canada to 4 volunteer departments in Alberta.
  2. Create Alberta Fire Aid philosophical outline
  3. Receive additional donations from Corporate Sponsor (Motion Canada)
  4. Receive donation from one Municipal Sponsor (Anonymous)
  5. Develop and distribute Alberta Fire Aid information package for potential donors/sponsors
  6. Made initial contacts with several interested organizations
  7. Late 2025 - Dispersed several items to 3 fire departments in need of equipment
  8. Begin early stages of Societies incorporation (membership, forms, etc)

2016 Accomplishments

  1. Meet with interested major municipal donor to discuss program outline
  2. Finalize a group of directors and apply to be an independent incorporated Society
    1. Develop a set of bylaws to operate by
    2. Establish key positions (President, Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, Directors)
    3. Receive official incorporation as a Not-For-Profit Society with Service Alberta. (#5019854800)
  3. Begin early stages of becoming an Canada Revenue Agency Charitable Organization
  4. Begin to develop a set of operating policies
  5. Establish a storage location for donated items
  6. Make contact with other not for profit / charitable partners who share the same philosophical goals
    1. Partnering with Firefighter Aid Ukraine Mission
  7. Make initial contact with additional volunteer fire organizations in need of equipment
  8. Obtained legal council and developed liability waiver for distributed equipment
  9. Obtain disclaimer waiver

2017 Accomplishments

  1. Expanded awareness via Facebook ad promotion
  2. Notified departments across BC via social media and associations of AFA
  3. Established release documents and policy
  4. Received amazing $5000 donation from Canadian Pacific Railway!
  5. Received amazing $5000 donation from Pembina Pipelines!
  6. Continued to receive and distribute equipment and PPE to departments

2017 Goals

  1. Expanded awareness via Facebook ad promotion
  2. Notified departments across BC via social media and associations of AFA
  3. Established release documents and policy
  4. Received amazing $5000 donation from Canadian Pacific Railway
  5. Find additional corporate sponsors to assist with storage container and VX tool purchase project

2018 Goals

  1. Work with Firefighter Aid Ukraine to assist with their "2.0" mission to assist firefighters Internationally
  2. Obtain AGLC Charitable Gaming License
  3. Continue to receive and inventory items
  4. Continue to work with corporate sponsors to assist getting AFA funds for our storage project
  5. Fundraise for a proper gear/sorting facility
  6. Apply for an matching CFEP grant for a sorting/storage/distribution facility.
  7. Continue to distribute items to departments on request
  8. Expand awareness of the Society across Alberta & Canada
  9. Continue process to become a registered charity with the CRA.
  10. Reach out to other municipal departments to ob
