Google Draw might be a tool worth exploring together with children, eg on a interactive board or just working with the drawing on an ipad. Let the children manipulate the different parts, decide sizes, colours etc. Then the final images can be used as part of a more complex creation, like with photos taken by the children, and become part of their own stories.
This video gives you an idea of some of the possibilities in Google Draw.
Remember: Log on to using you Gmail-login and make a copy, as shown in the video, before you start to make a lot of changes. Also remember that you should download the image as PNG. That will make the background transparent when you use the image in a presentation.
Note how you with quite simple means can make the eye look angry or surprised.
