Today, we're going to combine everything that we've done in the first four modules and clearly state a goal and the steps that need to happen to accomplish the goal.
A goal should say both what we're going to do, and what the outcome we want is. In other words, we need to be able to write down and say what we want to have happen and exactly what we're going to do to get there. We don't have to have a complete plan yet, just the most important steps.
For example, if my goal is to do better on my writing probes and on things that I write for class, I might write down
I want to improve my scores on writing probes and grades on things that I write.
Steps:
• I need to learn to use Read&Write so that I can hear what I type.
• I need to carry ear buds so that I can use Read&Write quietly in class.
• I need to proofread to make sure I capitalize the first word in a sentence
and use punctuation
Take some time now to clearly write down your goal, something that you really want and can stick to. Also, write down the most important things that need to happen to accomplish your goal. It's a great idea to talk to a partner or your teacher for hints and help. Finally, write why you think this is a good goal for you, the reason you chose it, or other things that might help understand your goal better.
