Fate Witches are those who frequently practice magics related to divining fate and fortune. They are frequently also Entropy mages and are familiar with the related thaumaturgies. Many (all?) are also Seer-born, Mirishi. Fate Witches regularly engage with their communities as fortune tellers and mystics, granting blessings and divining futures, which can serve as a distinguishing factor from an Entropy mage who studies the magic from a more scholarly perspective (not that Fate Witches aren't particular about their craft).
Fate Witches tend to congregate in to regional Covens. These Covens serve as a place where they can practice their crafts, learn the appropriate codes of conduct and behavior, and also serve as social organization for its members.
It is within covens that many Mirishi finally find 'home'. Already somewhat off-putting to the general public with their missing eyes, uncanny senses, and ability to peer into the future, Fate Witch covens are a place where Mirishi can be without needing to putting up airs or enduring the odd comments and glances of others.
Despite their oddness, Fate Witches regularly interact with their communities. Part of this stems from a feeling of interconnected-ness of all things; Fate Witches are generally more aware of the relationships shared between all things and see interactions as a way to honor that connection. Rather than jealously hide what they see about others from them, Fate Witches are likely to share what they've learned fairly openly. On a more practical level, it is also accepted practice that Fate Witches ask for some kind of compensation for their visions, for the act of performing a divination a time and energy consuming act (it is also a handy means to provide for oneself using 'vision' when one's own visual prowess is...limited).
Fate Witches's services are both passive and proactive in nature. Divination and fortune-telling are the most common activities a Fate Witch may be asked to perform. Whether it be reading thrown bones, special tarot decks or other methods, the Fate Witch is usually being asked to predict what the requester can expect to experience in the future. Slightly more active is act of performing blessings; those knowledgeable about Fate Witches know that they are not only able to foretell what is to happen, but also shift one's fortune so that certain outcomes are more or less likely. Finally, the most desperate may ask a Fate Witch to serve as an accompanying member of an expedition. An active Fate Witch is one who may be attempting to shift outcomes in favor of the part, choosing to impart blessings onto expedition members or curses unto foes. A passive one is more of a "good luck" charm, although given that most creatures are predisposed to self-preservation, parties accompanied by Fate Witches are likely to encounter generally better fortunes as Fate Witches tend to also want to see the next sunrise.
[What happens when Fate Witches from opposite parties encounter each other? Not Fate Witch meets an entropist, but another actual Fate Witch]
*Original here means "originating from oneself", and does not imply anything grander than that.
After their initiation, Fate Witches spend time learning from other members of the Coven, improving their familiarity with reading the currents of Fate and ability to guide those currents. In order to be recognized as a full-fledged Fate Witch, however, one must begin to learn about one's own fate, an individual's Original Prophecy. Glimpsing one's Original Prophecy signals that the Fate Witch is able to truly tap into the secrets of Fate. It should be noted that actually reading the Original Prophecy is not a part of this initial trial; it is expected that after seeing the Original Prophesy, that Fate Witch will continue spending time trying to better understand the meaning of that vision, frequently revisiting it as they grow in experience. The outcome of the Original Prophecy varies from person to person. Sometimes, it provides insight into their overall life path, other times it is a major life event.
