Hollywood Movies
I would love to share with you all of the Hollywood video clips in my library that I use, but I can not...besides the obvious reasons, I do not think I have the file space on this website for me to do that. So, I am going to have to share with you how I use Hollywood movies in my teaching in another way. I am going to list each scene and physics principle along with how I use it in a table. This is much like the way the content is presented on the Intuitor site, as well...just without the movie reviews. How much free time do you think I have?!?! As I mentioned previously, all you need is to invest in a DVD ripper and you can begin creating and using your very own video clips. I have a YouTube or Hollywood video clip in every powerpoint presentation that I use...usually more than one. I tell the students that I need something to enhance my class, since I am not a very interesting teacher...usually my students will realize I am trying to make a joke! WARNING: Students will complain about how much you are ruining their lives and movie viewing enjoyment when you start using clips. Everywhere they look they are going to "see" physics...they will never watch a movie the same way! Some of the videos may have offensive language or show graphic violence that you may feel is not appropriate for your class. In those situations, I do some creative editing to remove the words and/or scenes.
